The Helena Comedy Festival is produced by 302 Comedy in Helena, Montana. You can reach us at kaiser@302comedy.com with any question about this policy or about information we hold about you.
Performer applications. If you apply to perform, we collect your name, email address, biography, headshot, links to your social media and website, and a link to a video of your set. Application fees are processed by Stripe; we receive confirmation of payment and your email address, but we never see or store your card number.
Published performer materials. If you are accepted, we publish your name, headshot, biography, social links and submission clip on this website and use them in festival promotion. This is the purpose of a press kit, but it is worth stating plainly: those materials become public.
Ticket buyers. Tickets are sold through Eventbrite, not on this site. Eventbrite collects and processes your payment details under its own privacy policy. We receive the attendee name and email address for each order so we can run the event.
Anyone visiting the site. The advertising and analytics tools we use automatically collect your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, and how you arrived. Which tools those are changes over time; see section 4.
We advertise the festival online and measure how well those ads work. To do that we use analytics and advertising tools supplied by third-party platforms. These tools set cookies or similar identifiers in your browser and report your activity on this site — the pages you view, what you click, and whether you go on to buy a ticket — back to the platform that provides them.
The tools in use today are Google Analytics, the Meta pixel (Facebook and Instagram) and the Reddit pixel. We add and drop advertising platforms as our campaigns change, and we may use others such as Snapchat, TikTok, X, Google Ads or any other advertising or analytics service. This section describes how we use that category of tool generally; it is not a fixed list, and we will not necessarily update this page each time a platform is added or removed.
Whichever platforms we are using, the effect is the same: that company receives information about your visit and may combine it with information it already holds about you, including to target advertising at you elsewhere. You can limit this through your browser's cookie settings, through the ad or privacy settings of the platform in question, and through industry opt-out pages such as the Digital Advertising Alliance and the Network Advertising Initiative. For the tools we run today, see Google's opt-out add-on, your Meta ad preferences and your Reddit privacy settings.
We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not share performer application details or attendee lists with anyone outside the festival except as described here or as required by law.
We do share information in these ways:
Some pages embed content hosted by other companies, which lets those companies see your IP address when the content loads. Today that means video from YouTube on performer pages (using its no-cookie player, which still contacts Google's servers), event artwork served by Eventbrite's image CDN on the schedule, and fonts from Google Fonts sitewide. We may embed content from other services in future.
We use appropriate measures to protect the information we hold, and we limit access to it. We keep performer applications for as long as we run the festival so that we can consider prior applicants; we keep attendee information for as long as Eventbrite retains it for the event. Ask us and we will delete what we are not required to keep.
You may ask us to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, ask us to stop sending you festival email, or ask a performer listing to be taken down. Email kaiser@302comedy.com and we will act on it. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to opt out of the advertising sharing described in section 5.
This site is intended for adults. Many festival venues are bars or breweries with their own age policies. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
We may update this policy. Changes are posted on this page with a new date at the top.
